Yaakov-Shimshon Shapira ( Hebrew יעקב-שמשון שפירא , November 4 ( October 22 ), 1902 , Elisavetgrad , Russian Empire - November 14, 1993 ) - Israeli public and political figure, deputy of the Knesset on the 2nd, 3rd and the 7th convocation, the 8th Minister of Justice of Israel .

Biography

Yaakov-Shimshon Shapira was born in Elizavetgrad (now Kropyvnytsky , Ukraine ). He studied at the yeshiva in Lida, at the University of Kharkov at the Faculty of Medicine and at the School of Law in Jerusalem , where he received the title of lawyer. Yaakov Shimshon Shapira was an activist of the social-Zionist movement in Russia and a refuser in 1923-1924. In 1924 he repatriated to Eretz Yisrael. He is a member of the HaMaavar Labor Conquest in Petah Tikva . He was a worker on citrus plantations in Petah Tikva. Former secretary of the Ahdut Habodah party in Jerusalem. In 1934 he moved to Haifa where he practiced law. After the creation of the state, Israel was appointed chief director of the Ministry of Justice . In 1948 - 1950 served as the first legal adviser to the government .
In the period from 1966 to 1973 - Minister of Justice of the State of Israel .
