Biography
Allen studied at Harvard University . After graduating, he lectured on zoology at Harvard and served as curator of mammals at the Museum of Comparative Zoology. He traveled a lot, visited Central and South America, West Africa, on the Nile River , in the Belgian Congo , Australia . He was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1915 [1] . He was the publisher of The Auk, an ornithological magazine.
Ushan Allen ( Idionycteris phyllotis ) is named after the scientist.
