The Year of the Hare ( Fin. Jäniksen vuosi ) is a novel by the Finnish writer Arto Paasilinna , written in 1975 , which was considered the year of the Hare according to the Chinese horoscope . The book was published by Weilin + Göös, and was later reprinted by major Finnish publishers WSOY and Gummerus. The novel has been translated into 20 languages, including English, Russian, Italian, French, German, Hungarian, Danish, etc. This is Arto Paasilinna’s most readable novel [1] . In 1994, the book entered the compiled by UNESCO . It is noteworthy that this is one of the six Finnish books included in the list [2] .

Story
The journalist Kaarlo Vatanen (Kaarlo Vatanen), returning from a business trip in the summer with his friend, a photographer, picks up an injured bunny who has fallen under their car. Vatanen decides to say goodbye to his former life and begins his fascinating journey around Finland in company with a hare.
