1997 World Ski Championships

The 41st 1997 World Ski Championships took place from February 21 to March 2 in the Norwegian city of Trondheim . 15 sets of medals were won (10 for cross-country skiers, 2 in biathlon and 3 in ski jumping).

Outstanding success in the history of skiing was achieved by Elena Vyalbe , who became the champion in all 5 types of women's skiing programs. Moreover, in all 4 personal disciplines the second place was occupied by Italian Stefania Belmondo . At a distance of 5 km, gold was originally won by 6-time Olympic champion Lyubov Yegorova , but then she was disqualified for doping and deprived of a reward.

4x10 km relay

28th of February. The Norwegians won with an overwhelming advantage in more than two minutes. Norwegians won gold in the relay at the 4th consecutive world championships. BjΓΆrn Delhi won his third gold in the championship. In the fight for bronze, the Italian Fulvio Valbuza at the finish ahead of the Russian Alexei Prokurorov.
