Adam Karpinsky ( Polish: Adam Karpiński , December 16, 1897, Turk (now Lviv region in Ukraine ) - July 19, 1939, in Tirsuli ) - Polish mechanical engineer , aircraft designer, rock climber and climber.

Biography
Member of the First World War. Served as an observer pilot. He later graduated from the Warsaw Polytechnic Institute and became one of the pioneers of Polish aviation and gliding . He was engaged in the design and creation of sports airplanes and gliders, one of the best in Poland. He studied the possibility of creating glider airfields in the Tatras and Beskydy . In 1930, Adam Karpinsky participated in the International Air flight around Europe.
He began climbing and climbing in 1922. Especially active in the winter Tatras. In the winter of 1925, he walked alone along the main ridge of the Western Tatras, for the first time in history, spending 4 nights in tent camps in frosty highlands.
In 1925 he made several ascents in the Alps , including in the winter, and from 1933-1934 he participated in the first Polish expedition to the Andes , where on January 18, 1934, he and the first to climb the third highest peak in America, Mercedario (6770 m), together with Viktor Ostrovsky ) [one]
Adam Karpinsky was the inventor of new models of climbing equipment, among other things, the excellent high-altitude tents of Akar-Ramada , a sleeping bag and special mountain boots.
In 1939, he led the Polish expedition to the Himalayas . When trying to conquer the peaks of Tirsuli (7150 m), he died during a mountain avalanche .
Wife - Wanda Charnotskaya-Karpinskaya ( Polish ), sports medicine doctor, climber.
Son - Jacek Karpinsky , an electronic engineer and computer scientist, creator of Polish computers.
