Karsavas parish ( Latvian. Kārsavas pagasts ) is a former territorial unit in the northern part of the Ludza district of Latvia . It was located in the east of the republic, in the historical region of Latgale . Until 1949, the administration of the volost was located in the city of Karsava . In 1940, it bordered on the Nautra and Merdzene volosts of its county, as well as on the Tilzh , Baltinava and Gaur volosts of the Abren district .

History
In 1945, the Bozaugsky, Karsavsky, Oponosky, Nestersky, Ranchsky, Salnavsky and Vitolsky rural councils were a part of the Karsavsky volost. After the abolition of the Karsavas volost on December 31, 1949, all of them were included in the Karsavsky district [1] .
Today, the territory of the former Makashensky volost is distributed between the Salnava and Malnava volosts of the Karsavsky krai , as well as small territories in the Mezhvidskaya , Merdzenskaya and Golyshevsky volosts of the Karsavsky krai.
