Location

49 km east of the district center and the Rogachev railway station (on the Mogilev - Zhlobin line ), 82 km from Gomel .

Transportation Network

History

According to written sources, it has been known since the beginning of the 17th century as a village in the Rechitsa district of the Minsk Voivodeship of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . Designated in the inventory of the Chechersky elder in 1704 as a village with 12 smokes. In 1720 it is mentioned in the inventory of the Merkulovichsky headman.

After the 1st partition of the Commonwealth (1772) as part of the Russian Empire . During the Patriotic War of 1812, clashes between French troops and the corps of the Russian General F.F. Ertel took place near the village. Through the village passed the post road Neglyubka - Rogachev. According to the revision of 1858 in the Gorodets volost of the Rogachev district of the Mogilev province . In 1884 the St. Nicholas Church, 2 windmills were located . According to the 1897 census, a literacy school, a mill, a grocery store, 3 windmills , a blacksmith shop, and a nearby farm were operating. In 1909, 3010 acres of land were in folklore .

In 1930, the collective farm “Peredovik” was organized , a windmill and a forge worked. From 1939 to July 16, 1954, the center of the Kurgan Village Council of Zhuravichsky , from December 17, 1956 of the Rogachevsky District of the Gomel Region. During the Great Patriotic War in November 1943, the invaders burned the village and killed 23 residents. 57 residents died at the front. According to the 1959 census as a part of the state farm “May 1” (the center is the agro-town of Kurgan ). The library, the feldsher-midwife station, and the post office are located .
