St. John the Theological Monastery is an Orthodox convent of the Minsk diocese in the village of Domoshany, Minsk Region .
History
It was established on May 12, 1997 in the village of Domoshany, located near the town of Smolevichi . In Domosani, a church was built, built in 1507 by a zealot of Orthodoxy in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Prince Konstantin Ostrozhsky . According to the inventory of 1806 , it was wooden, single-domed, it was called St. Michael's in the name of Michael the Archangel , built in place of the locals burned down in 1772 . At the beginning of the 20th century, after repair, it was re-dedicated to the church of Ap. John the Evangelist . Currently, it is an architectural monument, protected by the state.
In 2000, the Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret consecrated a new church in Domoshan in honor of the icon of the Mother of God of Tikhvin .
There are 10 inhabitants in the cloister. There is a Sunday children's school, a library is constantly gathering with books on Orthodoxy in Russia and Belarus, and works of spiritual and moral content.
