The system of educational institutions of Mar Elias operates in Ibilin, which includes institutions from kindergarten to college, which was founded by Archbishop Elias Shakur.
In the village are the graves of members of the Dahar el-Umar family and the grave of Akila Aga, the Bedouin leader who repelled the Druze attack in 1860.
