Drabesh volost

Drabesh parish ( Latvian. Drabešu pagasts ) is one of the five territorial units of the Amata region of Latvia , located in its northern part. It borders on the Amat volost of its region, the city of Cesis and the Vaiva volost of the Cesis region , the Ligatne volost of the Ligatn region , as well as the Straup and Raiskum volosts of the Pargaui region .

The largest settlements of the volost are villages: Jeriki, Karli, Drabeshi, Amat, Meyermuiza, Araishi.

The national highway A2 Riga - Ventspils, which is part of the European route E77 Riga - Sigulda - the Estonian border (Wetslaizien) and the regional road P20 Valmiera - Cesis - Drabesi [2], passes through the Drabesh parish.

The rivers Amata, Simtupe, Dzerdupa, Rakshupa flow through the territory of the volost. The northern boundary of the parish runs along the Gauja River .

History

In 1935, the area of ​​the Drabesh parish of Cesis County was 109.07 km², with a population of 2030 inhabitants.

In 1945, the Drabesh, Jericho and Renzen village councils were created in the parish. After the cancellation of the volost division in 1949, the Drabesh village council was part of the Cesis district .

In 1954, the territory of the liquidated Jericho Village Council was annexed to the Drabesh Village Council. In 1961, the liquidated Livonian Village Council. In 1965, the territory of the Amata state farm of the Drabesh village council was annexed to the Kos village council. In 1977, part of the territory of the Vaiva village council passed to the Drabesh village council [3] .

In 1990, the Drabesh village council was reorganized into a volost. In 2000, the Drabesh and Amat volosts became part of the newly formed Amat Territory.
