History

The Institute of Philosophy was created as part of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR by a resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers in November 1946 .

In 1950 - 1961, the Institute of Philosophy published 7 volumes of "Scientific Notes", a number of monographs and scientific articles.

Since 1969, the scientific journal Philosophical Thought has been published ( Ukrainian Philosophy Dumka )

Scientific departments

Initially, the institute had 4 departments: dialectical materialism , historical materialism , the history of philosophy and social thought in Ukraine, and natural science .

In 1958, a branch of scientific atheism was created, and in 1960 a branch of ethics and aesthetics.

In 1963, the Institute underwent a restructuring of the system and introduced thematic departments of philosophical problems. So at the beginning of the 1980s, the institute had the following departments:

  • Department of Scientific Communism
  • Department of Philosophical Problems of Social Philosophy

  • Department of Contemporary Foreign Philosophy
  • Department of sociological studies of social and vocational orientations
  • Department of problems of national relations and proletarian internationalism.

Institute of Philosophy

The Institute of Philosophy is the leading scientific institution in Ukraine for conducting research in the field of axial issues of philosophical science, defines and directs the main directions of philosophical work , is engaged in the preparation of scientific personnel through postgraduate and doctoral studies. The institute has developed areas of scientific research, from which entire scientific schools have grown.

Within these areas, fundamental developments are being carried out in the field of logic, methodology and philosophy of science ( Kopnin P.V. , Popovich, M.V. , S. B. Krymsky , Ishmuratov A. T. )

Expanded scientific studies of philosophical problems of man, the conditions for the emergence and development of the human worldview , the human worldview and worldview , the existential dimensions of human being ( Shinkaruk, V.I. , M.O. Bulatov, Tabachkovsky V.G. , Khamitov N.V.)

Problems of the philosophy of culture, ethics and aesthetics, the philosophy of art are being developed ( Ivanov V.P. , Bystritsky E.K. , Mazepa V.I. , Malakhov V.A. )

Studies of the history of Ukrainian and foreign philosophy are being carried out. Unexplored periods, events and phenomena of Ukrainian culture, the philosophical heritage of prominent thinkers of the past and present are studied. (Nichik V.M., Gorsky V.S. , Stratius Y. M., Lyakh V.V.)

In addition to these areas, the institute develops problems of social philosophy, philosophical problems of natural science and ecology, religious studies, etc.
