History
Old fortress in Zvechan
The city was first mentioned in XI century sources in connection with the Byzantine-Serbian clashes. The inscription of Stefan Nemani on the laying of the church of St. George in memory of a military victory. Then Zvecan was one of the residences of the Serbian kings, Stefan Decansky was imprisoned here in the fortress .
