Zavodny Ostrov ( Belor. Zavodny Vostraў ) is a village in the Makhnovichy village council of the Mozyr district of the Gomel region of Belarus .

Geography
Location
44 km south-west of Mozyr , 28 km from the Yelsk railway station (on the Kalinkovichi - Ovruch line ), 177 km from Gomel .
Transportation Network
Transport links along the country road, then the Makhnovichi -Mozyr highway . The layout consists of a rectilinear latitudinal street, to which a side street joins in the west. The building is wooden, manor type.
History
According to written sources, it has been known since the 19th century as a village in the Meleshkovichi volost of the Mozyr district of the Minsk province . In 1919, a school was opened, which was located in a hired peasant house. In 1930, a collective farm named after R. Luxemburg was organized, a forge worked. During the Great Patriotic War, partisans on February 10, 1942 defeated the stronghold created by the invaders in the village. In July 1943, the invaders completely burned the village and killed 26 inhabitants. 32 residents died at the front. According to the 1959 census as a part of the collective farm “Ray of October” (center - the village of Makhnovichi ).
