Biography
Member of the PSP since 1931. During the Second World War, he fought in the west as part of the Separate Brigade of Podhale shooters ( second lieutenant of communications), participated in the battle for Narvik , a member of the French Resistance. He returned to Poland in 1945.
Since 1948 - Member of the PUWP since its inception. Member of the Central Committee of the PUWP in 1948-1981. Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the PUWP in 1971-1981, candidate member of the Politburo in 1970-1971. Member of the Sejm in 1947-1989.
Minister of Higher Education, Poland in 1965-1966. Minister of Education and Higher Education of Poland in 1966-1972. Chairman of the State Council of Poland (March 28, 1972 - November 6, 1985). Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Union of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy in 1983-1990
He was buried in the Warsaw Pogonzki cemetery.
