Location
15 km north-east of Kalinkovich , 2 km from the railway station Gorochichi (on the Zhlobin - Kalinkovichi line ), 137 km from Gomel .
Transportation Network
Transport links along the country road, then the Gomel- Luninets motorway . The layout consists of a straight street close to the meridional orientation, to which 3 short streets join in the south. The building is bilateral, mainly wooden manor type. Residents were resettled to the village from the places polluted by radiation after the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant , mainly from the village of Nadtachayevka in the Narovlya district . For them, built brick houses for 60 families.
History
2 km from the village are mounds that indicate the settlement of these places from ancient times. According to written sources, it has been known since the 19th century as a village in the Domanovichi Volost, Rechytsa District, Minsk Province . In 1850, in the estate Domanovichi, the landowner Mikhailov. In 1867, when conducting land delimitation, residents opposed the unfair actions of local authorities. According to the 1897 census, there was a chapel, a bakery, an inn. In 1912 a school was opened, which was housed in a rented peasant house.
In 1929 the collective farm “Soviet Belarus” was organized; windmill , steam mill, forge, smolovarnya and sawmill. The primary school was transformed into a 7-year school in the 1930s (297 students in 1935). During the Great Patriotic War, the partisans defeated the enemy garrison, which was located in the village. In the battles near the village, 94 Soviet soldiers and partisans were killed (buried in mass graves in the cemetery and in the north-western outskirts). Released on January 12, 1944, 99 residents were killed at the front. From October 21, 1968, the center of the Gorochichi Village Council. In 1970, the center of the state farm "Kalinkovichi". There are Vasilevichsky flax factory, forestry, Ozarichsky forestry, machine shops, consumer services combine, secondary school, 2 clubs, library, kindergarten, hospital, post office , veterinary station, 2 canteens, 6 shops.
