Ashton Gate ( born Ashton Gate ) - a suburb of Bristol ( England , UK ), administratively refers to the county of Southville . The toll house at the western end of North Street has survived to this day and indicates the origin of the name of the suburb. Being part of the Ashton Court estate of the Smith family, the district had an iron foundry and a coal mine in the 19th century, as well as a tobacco factory and a brewery. There is still a manufacturing industry and trade parks here, and in 2003 the company Bristol Beer Factory resumed production of beer at the site of the former brewery . Ashton Gate Railway Station was closed in 1964.
