Born in 1906 in the village of Avat of the Semirechensk region of the Russian Empire [1] . In 1928, Iskanderov graduated from the Central Asian Communist University .
In 1926 he published his first poems. In the 1930s, several collections of his poems were published: “In the Waves of Struggle” (“Chelish Dolқunlirida”, 1934), “Khan Tenri” (1935), “Uyghur Girl” (“Uygur қizi”, 1936), “My Saz ”(“ Sazim ”, 1936),“ Poems ”(“ Sheirliri ”, 1937). In 1937 he was illegally repressed - sentenced to 10 years in forced labor camps. He was later rehabilitated and continued his literary work. He was engaged in translating verses from Russian and other languages into Uyghur . In turn, many of Iskanderov’s works have been translated into Russian and Kazakh .
In 1981, the name of Isim Iskanderov was assigned to one of the streets of Alma-Ata [2] .
