Boucherville ( French: Boucherville ) is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec , the Monteregie region, the Longueuil territory.
The city was founded in 1667 by Pierre Boucher , who was originally from Mortagne-au-Perse in France . After arriving in New France, he first settled in Quebec , then in Trois-Rivieres , of which he became governor, and later built his house in a then deserted place on the outskirts of modern Boucherville. In the XVIII century. several families left Boucherville and founded the cities of Saint-Julie and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville .
The population of the city was 39,062 in 2006. Of these, French was the mother tongue for 93.6%, English for 2% [1] .
