Inspire is a business-class 4-door Hard Top sedan. In the hierarchy of the Honda lineup, this car stands just above Accord. Initially, Inspire, created on the basis of Accord by increasing the wheelbase and using the new 5-cylinder engine, was called Accord Inspire. Later, when the dimensions of its wide body “grew” to the 3rd size (doors and wings became thicker - the width of the car increased by 8 centimeters, the bumpers and hood were longer - the length of the car increased by 14 centimeters), and a new 2 appeared in the engine range. 5-liter 5-cylinder engine, only the word Inspire remains in the name of the car. In the design of the front of the body, narrow headlights stand out.

It was produced from 1989 to 1992, in the back of CB5, and from 1992 to 1995 in the back of CC2 (2.5 liters) and CC3 (2 liters). Equipped with engines G20A , G25A . All cars had front-wheel drive, and were equipped with an automatic gearbox or 5-speed manual. It has a “double” called Honda Vigor (differs in the form of bumpers, headlights, grille, and brake lights).

It was produced from 1995 to 1998. Equipped with engines G20A , G25A , C32A, located longitudinally. All cars were equipped with an automatic transmission and had front-wheel drive. The G25A engine on this generation was installed in two different versions. In the configuration “S” - 190 horsepower , and in the other trim levels 180. We also note that only the 190-horsepower engine was installed on the previous generation. In addition to the more powerful engine, the “S” package also included other wheels with 5 studs of dimension 205 / 60R15 (since 1996), a rear anti-roll bar (also on all cars of the previous generation) and a modified muffler design. A more powerful motor differs from its less powerful counterpart in a modified compression ratio , a different form of camshaft cams and the shape of pistons , as well as “firmware”. Accordingly, this engine consumes better fuel. With the end of the release of this model, the legendary inline five-cylinder engine, which engineers participated in the development of engines for F1 and this engine absorbed many latest technologies, has sunk into oblivion.

Cars with the C32A engine had a very rich configuration and were a copy of the Acura TL 3.2 car produced for the American market. This engine was developed by engineers at the American division of Honda Corporation and no longer had a Honda signature (the crankshaft of almost all Honda engines rotates counterclockwise) - it rotates like everyone else - clockwise. A distinctive feature of the 1st and 2nd generation of this car is the lack of door glass frames (the so-called hardtop body type). With the release of subsequent generations, this feature has also disappeared. The version with 3.2 liters differed from the 2- and 2.5-liter versions of the model by a different front bumper, and the hood connected to the radiator grille as a whole (on the 2- and 2.5-liter models, the radiator grille is separate, and when opening the hood, it remains in place, between the headlights, and does not rise as in the 3.2-liter version.)

The mass distribution along the axles is 60% to the front and 40% to the rear, which provides excellent directional stability and high comfort. The engine is tilted at 35 ° to lower the center of gravity. The gearbox is equipped with a Prosmatec Type II system (PROgressive, Shift schedule MAnagement TEChnology), due to which a smoother movement on hilly terrain is achieved. Trunk volume is 437 liters. The car was also sold under the name Honda Saber in the dealer network Honda Verno and Primo (different grille, bumper, turn signal color, body colors available).

Third Generation

It was produced from 1998 to 2003. The development and production of the model was transferred to the American branch of Honda. Instead of inline 5-cylinder engines, V25 -type J25A and J32A engines were installed on cars. All cars were equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission and had front-wheel drive.

Compared with previous generations of the model, the body of this Inspire has a more elongated silhouette, which gives it more sportiness, characteristic of all representatives of this model. The driving characteristics of the machine fully comply with its external image. Instead of the 5-cylinder engine traditionally used on this model, SOHC V-shaped 6-cylinder engines were installed here. Chief among them is the 2.5-liter engine, and for fans of fast driving, Honda has also prepared a 3.2-liter unit. Inspire is equipped with a 4-speed transmission until 2001; after 2001, a 5-speed is used. It has a “double” called Honda Saber and Acura_TL .
