Galensky volost ( Latvian. Galēnu pagasts ) - one of the six territorial units of the Riebinsky region of Latvia . Located in the north-eastern part of the region. It borders on the Silyukalnsky , Stabulnieksky , Riebinsky and Silayansky volosts of the region, Vilyansky and Sokolksky volosts of the Vilansky region , and also to the Sylmalsky volosts of the Rezekne region .

The largest settlements of the volost are the villages: Galeni (volost center), Lomi-Bortnieki, Maltas Trupi, Gribolva, Indani, Voveres.
In the village of Galeni, there is the Vidsmuiza Catholic Church and the surviving buildings of the Vidsmuiza manor.
Galensky volost is crossed by the regional highway P58 Vilany - Preili - Shpogi [2] .
Osh River flows through the territory of the volost. The eastern border of the parish runs along the Malta River.
History
The first mention in written sources of settlements on the territory of the present Galensky volost dates back to 1384.
In 1935, the area of the Galensky volost of Rezekne county was 172.7 km². it was inhabited by 8715 inhabitants.
In 1945, Galensky, Lomsky, Polkaronsky, Sobolevsky, Stabulnieksky, Stikansky and Upenieksky village councils were created in the volost. In 1947-1949, the Galensky Village Council was part of the Wilan County , after the cancellation of the volost division in Preil district in 1949.
In 1954, the territory of the liquidated Polkaronsky and Stabulnieksky village councils was annexed to the Galensky Village Council. In 1962 - the territory of the collective farm. Kirov Upenieksky village council. In 1973 - Lomsky village council. In the same year, the territory of the restored Stabulnieki village council was alienated from the Galensky Village Council [3] .
In 1990, the Galensky Village Council was reorganized into a volost. In 2004, the Galensky volost, together with five other volosts of the Preili region, became part of the newly formed Riebinsky Territory.
