Seventh Water is a Russian folk group from the city of Rybinsk that existed in 1987-2001. The repertoire of the group is Russian folk songs and urban romance in their own interpretation, as well as songs with their own music to verses of various poets. The self-determination of the genre is acoustic post-folk . Among the merits of the group were Dmitry Sokolov’s composing talent, Marina Sokolova’s memorable vocals and Mitya Kuznetsov’s multi-instrumentalism.

History
The Seventh Water Group was formed in January 1987 in Rybinsk . The creators are the spouses Marina and Dmitry Sokolov . She first appeared in public in 1988, visiting the Open Door program on Leningrad television , where the group got with the support of Dyusha Romanov and Seva Gakkel from the Aquarium group. After that, concerts began to be given actively. In 1989, "Seventh Water" participated in the Pushchino festival, performed in the UK and Ireland . In 1990, the group gave more than 50 concerts in 9 states of the USA .
In 1990, the first album, Beauty , was recorded and released on cassette by the American company Elf records. Songs from the album were rotated on Russian radio stations, occupying a leading position in folk charts, the novel " Bell " gained particular popularity. In 1992, the festival "Farmer-92" "Seventh Water" was named the opening of the year. Several times “Seventh Water” performed together with the Kalinov Bridge group and Ivan Smirnov . In 1993, at the invitation of Artemy Troitsky, the group appeared in the Exotica program. The RTR television channel made a broadcast about the group.
In 1994, "Seventh Water" recorded the album " Clay Homeland ." State TV and Radio Company “Yaroslavia” released a film-video version “ Clay Homeland ”, which took second place at the festival of entertaining television programs and video clips of the CIS countries. Moscow Windows Studio has released for Russia on one cassette the albums Beauty and Clay Homeland.
In 1995, in Brussels , MDC records released the retrospective CD Favorites. Television and Radio Campaign “ Mir ” directed the film “Hope” about “The Seventh Water”, directed by Sergey Loginov.
In the same year, Mitya Kuznetsov left the group for solo projects, which led, in fact, to the breakup of the group. She gathered again in 1997, in connection with the anniversary concert in honor of the 10th anniversary of the group [1] .
In 1999, the group performed in Western Europe ( Germany , Austria , Slovenia ). She rarely gave concerts in Russia. In 2000, Seventh Water gave an interview on Mayak , Radio-1 , Radio 101 , and Radio Liberty . She gave a concert at the Central House of Artists .
In 2000, the group recorded the album " People live ." In 2001, Marina Sokolova was awarded the 1st prize. Sobinova for merits in the field of culture and art.
In 2001, the group gave the last concert and finally broke up [2] [1] .
