Eduard Sponnagel ( 1847 - May 16, 1907 ) - founder and owner of the Sponnagel piano factory.
Activities
In 1875, Eduard Sponnagel settled in Legnica and became a co-owner of the Gustav Selinke factory (founded in 1866). Since 1889, the company was renamed Selinke & Sponnagel, and on July 1, 1894, it was completely renamed Eduard Sponnagel. At that time, the factory already had more than one hundred employees and was engaged in the production of pianos and mechanisms for these instruments. However, in 1894, the pace of production slowed down, the Wroclaw branch was liquidated and, after some time, the company was engaged in exclusively finished products.
Edward was the creator of several unique innovations, in particular egalizers on board the deck. An entire article has been devoted to this invention. He was considered one of the most respected piano masters in the region.
In 1900, at the World Exhibition in Paris, the factory received a gold medal.
After death
After the death of the founder, the company was renamed the “Piano Factory named after Eduard Sponnagel ”and left to the widow Lina Sponnagel (née Paul).
In 1911, at an exhibition in Poznan , the factory already led by it received a medal for outstanding achievements.
However, during World War I, production was completely discontinued. In 1919, a factory with five employees continued to produce piano, but now under the brand name " Arthur Franke ".
