Since 1937 - the wife of Jacques-Yves Cousteau . Since 1950, she was listed as the “commissar ” of the Calypso research vessel . She took part in most expeditions. The Calypso team came up with her affectionate nickname The Cowgirl.
She died after a long illness from cancer. The ashes of Simone Cousteau were scattered over the sea off the coast of Monaco.
