It is predicted that, in addition to baryons, skyrmions can arise in the Bose – Einstein condensate [2] , in superconductors [3] . Skyrmions can also describe some chiral magnetic vortices in thin layers of magnetic materials. [four]
Formal Description
Skyrmion is a homotopically nontrivial classical solution of a nonlinear sigma model with a nontrivial topology of the target fold , a special case of a topological soliton . It arises, for example, in chiral meson models , where the target fold is a homogeneous space : (structural group): where SU ( N ) L and SU ( N ) R are left and right copies, respectively, and SU ( N ) diag is a diagonal subgroup .
