Biography

Born in Irkutsk on May 16, 1920 in the family of engineer Foki Nikiforovich Koryakov.

After leaving school he worked in newspapers. In 1938 he entered the Faculty of Journalism of the Ural State University named after A.M. Gorky . After graduating from the university, he worked in the large circulation of the Verkh-Isetsk Metallurgical Plant . During the Great Patriotic War he was a lieutenant, commander of a platoon of cadets at the Sverdlovsk Infantry School. He was awarded the medal "For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945." [1] [2] Since February 1943, he was an ordinary, then political worker of the Ural Volunteer Tank Corps , 4th Panzer Army , a war correspondent for the newspaper “Forward to the Enemy” ". [3]

After demobilization from the army, he taught the history of journalism course at the Ural State University (1946-1947), and was the executive secretary of the regional newspaper Uralsky Rabochiy (1949). Member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1951. From the moment the Ural magazine was founded in 1958 through 1959, he was its chief editor.

He died in Moscow on January 24, 1976 . He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery.

Creativity

The first book of the writer "The Adventures of Lenka and his friends" was published in 1949 in Sverdlovsk . The story has survived several editions: under the name “Path of the Bold” it has been translated into the languages ​​of the peoples of the USSR and foreign languages, at the All-Union Competition it was awarded the third prize.

The author of the children's science fiction novel “The Formula of Happiness” (1964; 1965), a utopia about the communist future. For children, his books “An Island Without Secrets”, “Kostya the Hard Worker”, “Brothers Arbuziki and Gosha Galoshin” and others were also written. The novels “Severe workdays”, “Gloomy Vangur”, “Face to the fire” are intended for the adult reader. "The Strange General" is the first in Soviet fiction experience of narrating about the Boer War .

According to the story "Gloomy Vangur" in 1959, the same film was shot at the Sverdlovsk film studio . Koryakov is the author of the script and several popular science films - The Prisoner of the Iron Crystal, The Discoverers, In Search of the New, and others.
