Biography
After graduating from school, he entered the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology. DI Mendeleev , who successfully graduated in 1947. Studied with famous in the future chemists R. A. Buyanov and D. G. Knorre . At the Moscow Art Institute, V. P. Mamayev was most influenced by Academicians V. M. Rodionov and N. N. Vorozhtsov Jr. NN Vorozhtsov Jr. becomes the head of the thesis of a young scientist who has been left after completing his postgraduate studies.
While studying in graduate school, V. P. Mamaev works at the Research Institute of Semiconductors and Dyes. The field of his scientific interests is gradually being finally formed: heterocyclic compounds in general, the synthesis and reactivity of azines, the chemistry of indole. Already in 1951, at the materials he had worked out, he defended his Ph.D. thesis “Research in the field of acyl-p-quinones” at the Scientific Research Institute of Organic Intermediates and Dyes, which allows him to start teaching activities: in 1956-1959. V.P. Mamaev holds the position of associate professor of the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology.
In 1959, a young researcher was invited to the newly established Novosibirsk Akademgorodok. At the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry, Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (NIOCh, USSR Academy of Sciences Academy of Sciences), he heads the laboratory of physiologically active substances (hereinafter the Laboratory of Heterocyclic Compounds). The core of the laboratory was composed of young scientists: V. Borovik, O. Rodina, V. Krivopalov, E. Lyubimova, M. Mikhalev, V. Sedova, G. Shishkin, O. Shkurko, S. Baram. [2]
In 1965, V.P. Mamaev became a professor of organic chemistry. Studies of the synthesis of pyrimidine compounds, tautomeric transformations of substituted azines, nucleophilic substitutions in halogen pyrimidines and some research in the field of the chemistry of indole and its derivatives, made by his laboratory, allow the scientist to successfully defend his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Study of 2-substituted pyrimidines" . The results obtained by the researcher turned out to be extremely demanded not only by chemical, but also by medical science: the study of indole made it possible to create new more effective antiviral drugs for the treatment of herpes.
In 1972, he was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences for the Department of General and Technical Chemistry. A prospective scientist was constantly noted by N. N. Vorozhtsov Jr. As early as 1965, V.P. Mamaev became his deputy for science, holding this post until 1975. After the death of his teacher, he became the new director of the National Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, remaining in office until 1987. Editorial Board of one of the leading specialized journals - "Chemistry of heterocyclic compounds".
V.P. Mamaev died suddenly on February 1, 1987 in Moscow. He was buried at the Southern Cemetery in Novosibirsk .
In memory of the scientist, a memorial plaque is installed on the building of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the SB RAS. In the museum of the institute a special memorable exposition is constantly demonstrated.
Pedagogical activity
The beginning of the pedagogical activity of V.P. Mamayev was laid back in Moscow. He successfully continued it in Novosibirsk, combining research activities with lectures at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the NSU. Gradually, the own scientific school of the scientist was formed, bringing together the most talented members of his laboratory of heterocyclic compounds. V.P. Mamaev was the supervisor of 15 candidates and a consultant to 2 doctors of chemical sciences [3] .
Awards, awards, honors
Scientific and public merit of the scientist has been repeatedly noted. Three times he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of Friendship of Peoples , medals. In 1987 he became the laureate of the Prize of the USSR Council of Ministers .
