History
In June 2009, the then shipyards of Wadan Yards declared bankruptcy. After the opening of the proceedings, the bankrupt bankruptcy trustee Marc Odebrecht hired by the court was tasked with finding an investor on all the property (including real estate, buildings, equipment, cars, and intellectual property). On August 15, 2009, Nordic Yards took over both shipyards in Wismar and Warnemünde as part of Asset Deal . [1] The sole owner and manager of Nordic Yards was Vitaly Yusufov, a Russian investor.
On June 1, 2014, Nordic Yards replenished for about 5 million euros with another asset, Volkswerft Stralsund , which became the third facility in the group of shipyards called Nordic Yards Stralsund GmbH .
In March 2016, the Genting Group acquired all three assets for 230.6 million euros. [2]
Products
Vessels for use in the Arctic / Special Tankers
Nordic Yards builds and designs all ice class vessels. At the shipyard in Wismar, the icebreaking arctic tanker Nordic AT 19 was developed and built upon the order of Norilsk Nickel . At the end of September 2011, the vessel was handed over to the customer. From June to August 2011, the shipyard also carried out the modernization of the icebreaker container ship “Norilskiy Nickel” of Aker ACS 650 type also for the Russian company Norilsk Nickel.
Ferries / Passenger ships
In the large hangars of shipyards in Wismar and Warnemünde, Nordic Yards builds ferries and passenger ships (for example, Roquers (RoRo) and RoPax-class ferries, designed by German engineers and designers of the shipyard), which allow passengers to be taken on board as well). In 2010, Nordic Yards delivered the world's largest combined cargo-passenger ferries (RoPax) Stena Hollandica and Stena Britannica to the Swedish shipping company Stena Line . [3]
Offshore platforms
Nordic Yards builds and designs ships and structures in the field of oil platforms (stationary and floating). The shipyard is also engaged in the design and manufacture of ocean platforms and foundation structures. During the BalticFuture 2011 fair in Rostock, Nordic Yards presented one of the newly developed shipyards of new ships (English = Heavy Lift Vessel) for the construction of wind parks on platforms in the open sea.
In 2011, Nordic Yards built two platforms for transformer substations for Siemens Energy at locations of deployment. With the help of the BorWin beta platform, starting in 2013, the North Sea wind parks Veja Mate and Global Tech I can be connected to the Dutch Tennet mainland network. [4] The HelWin alpha platform was installed as part of a wind park project on HelWin1 platforms in the eastern part of the North Sea near Helgoland . [five]
