Eupatrides , Eupatrides ( dr. Greek Εὐπατρίδαι - from εὖ , “good, glorious” and πατήρ , “father” - letters. “Noble”) - the ancient Attic aristocracy , deprived of the reforms of Solon advantages over other citizens of Athens (when the basis of social stratification it was not the origin, but the property situation, ”notes A. N. Chanyshev , Doctor of Philosophy , [1] ). The tradition ascribes the creation of a class of eupatrides to Tusey - according to legend, he divided the society of Attica into eupatrides, geomorphs (farmers) and demiurges (artisans) [2] . “Leading from the ancestors of the demigods-heroes, thereby ideologically substantiating their right to dominate,” notes A. N. Chanyshev about their power [1] . Plutarch draws a parallel between the Eupatrides and the Roman patricians.
