Anthony Lewis Amonte ( born Anthony Lewis Amonte ; born August 2, 1970 , Hingham , Massachusetts , USA ), known as Toney Amonte [1] - is a former American hockey player . Amonte played in the NHL for the clubs New York Rangers , Chicago Blackhawks , Phoenix Coyotes , Philadelphia Flyers and Calgary Flames .

Biography
Game career
Amonte was drafted in 1988 by the New York Rangers Club under a common 68th number. He achieved the greatest success as a scoring striker in the Chicago Blackhawks , as well as in matches for the US national team . Amonte made his NHL debut in the 1991 playoffs. He made an excellent impression as a rookie in the 1991-92 season, having scored more than 30 goals and finishing third in the Calder Trophy nomination. He spent three seasons at the Rangers, scoring a total of 84 goals, after which he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks shortly before the end of the regular season 1993-94. In βChicagoβ, he became a real βstarβ, having scored more than 30 goals in six seasons and more than 40 in three. In addition, in βChicagoβ Amonte for five consecutive seasons (from 1997 to 2002) did not miss a single match.
As part of the US team, Amonte won the 1996 World Cup . He scored the winning goal two and a half minutes before the end of the third period in the third final match against Canada .
Amonte started the 2002-03 season as part of the Phoenix Coyotes and at the end of the season he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers club. On August 2, 2005, as a free agent, he signed a contract with Calgary Flames . As part of the Calgary in the 2005β06 season, he scored his 400th goal in the NHL. It happened on December 10, 2005 in a match against Ottawa Senators .
Amonte currently ranks 11th among all American players of all times in the total number of points scored in the NHL (he has 900) [2] . He announced his retirement through his official website www.tony-amonte.com .

Family
Tony Amonte's sister, Kelly Amonte Hiller, is the trainer for the female student Lacrosse team at Northwestern University .
