Taffeta ( French taffetas , Italian taffeta from Pers. - twisted, twisted) - a kind of glossy dense thin fabric of plain weave made of tightly twisted threads of silk , cotton or synthetic organic polymers ( Chemical fibers ). In Russia, taffeta has been known since the XIV century, first as an imported product (from Byzantium and Asian countries).

Modern varieties
Initially, taffeta was only silk or cotton, but today many types of taffeta are made from synthetic fibers . White and light cream taffeta is extremely popular as a fabric for wedding dresses.
