Michael Chadbourne “Mike” Mills ( born Michael Chadbourne “Mike” Mills ; born March 20, 1966 [2] , Berkeley , California , USA ) is an American film director , screenwriter , clip maker and graphic designer . Best known as the creator of the films " Bad habit " and " Beginners ."

Youth
Born in Berkeley , California, to a family of Paul Mills, cultural historian and museum director. Educated at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art at New York College of the Arts. His mother died of a brain tumor in 1999 . A week after her death, Mike's father at 75 years old made a cuming out , before living with his wife for 44 years. Five years later, he died of lung cancer [3] [4] .
Career
Mike Mills has created music videos for many musicians, including Moby and Yoko Ono . In his honor, the group Air named the fifth song of their album Talkie Walkie .
He also worked as an advertising and album cover designer for the Beastie Boys , Beck Hansen , Sonic Youth, and Ol 'Dirty Bastard . In addition, he has created graphics for X-Girl and Marc Jacobs , and is currently releasing his own line of posters and posters under the general name Humans by Mike Mills .
Mills was a guitarist and backing vocalist in the short-lived indie rock band Butter 08 , where he played with Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori from Cibo Matto , Russell Simins from Blues Explosion and Rick Lee from Skeleton Key . The group in 1996 released an album named after its own name.
His directorial film debut " Bad Habit " was released in 2005 , to which Mills also made posters. The premiere of his second film, Beginners , took place at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2010 [5] .
He released part of his photographs in Gas Book 11 (2003) and Humans (2006). In 2009, Berlin's popular culture magazine 032c dedicated one of its issues to him. On this occasion, Mills gave an interview to Nick Curry, better known as Momus , who in the magazine was called Getting Through the New Depression [6] .
Personal life
Since 2009, Mills has been married to director Miranda Julay. [7] They have a son, Hopper (born 2012) [8] .
