History
In 2002, at the request of residents of the largest district of Tallinn - Lasnamäe - a group of entrepreneurs agreed to build an Orthodox church, the erection of which received the blessing of Metropolitan of Tallinn Kornilii (Jacobs) , and the idea of building was supported by the city authorities led by the mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar .
The project of the temple on a competitive basis was executed by the architectural bureau Z-Projekt OÜ and a group of architects - Oleg Zhemchugov, Nikolay Dyatko and Evgeniy Kolomenkin [1] .
In September 2003, during the visit to Estonia, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II consecrated a foundation stone at the construction site; construction began in November 2006 . According to the head of construction work, Vladimir Isakov, from 2003 to July 2011, donations worth 3 million euros were transferred to the construction of the church (some donations reached 150,000 euros, and the peak of transfers fell in 2008–2009). The completion of the temple was paid by Petromaks Spediitori AS. In Tallinn, in December 2010 broke out the so-called. “ Savisaarovsky ” scandal [2] [3] [4] : it was stated in the media that the funds (1.5 million euros of 3 million euros required for the completion of construction) for the completion of the temple construction were transferred to the Russian Petromaks Spediitori AS company by Andrei Pervozvanny, that was regarded as financial support of the mayor of Tallinn E. Savisaar. The representative of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called Evgeny Tomberg denied this information, saying that the funds were provided by the Estonian partners of the Foundation of the St. Andrew the First-Called, and the mayor of Tallinn himself called the construction of the church a priority in urban planning [5] [6] [7] .
On September 30, 2009, a square named after Patriarch Alexy II was opened in front of the church [8] , and on September 8, 2012, a monument to the deceased primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was opened on this square.
In February 2013, the domes and crosses of the temple were consecrated, and at Easter - the belfry , whose bells were cast in Germany. Easter service in 2013 was visited by more than 10 thousand people, among whom was Edgar Savisaar.
On June 16, 2013, during a visit to Estonia, Patriarch Kirill performed a great consecration of the newly built church [9] , the main sanctuary of which was the icon of the Mother of God, Hearing Aid, preserved by Metropolitan Kornilii after the closure in 1959 and the destruction of the monastery of the Pyhtitsky monastery in Tallinn.
In August 2013, a permanent iconostasis was installed, which was made by masters from St. Petersburg .
