Mathias Fredriksson achieved the greatest success at the 2001 World Championships in Lahti , where he became a two-time silver medalist in the 15 km race in the classic style and in the 4 × 10 km relay. At other championships, he twice became a bronze medalist with a team in relay races in 2003 and 2007 .

The highest achievement at the Olympic Games - a bronze medal in the relay at the 2006 Olympics in Turin . Matthias Fredriksson took part in four winter competitions in 1994 , 1998 , 2002 and 2006 . The best result in individual races is 10th place in the mass start for 50 km free style in 2006 .

In the 2002-2003 season, Matthias Fredriksson won the World Cup overall. At the World Cup there are 9 victories in individual races at various distances and 2 in relays.
