Biography
Derelis was born on March 22, 1902 in Los Angeles . After graduating from a private women's school, Derelis was fond of dancing and achieved significant success in this field. Hollywood producers became interested in her after the production of Attila and the Huns, where Derelis performed in a pair with Ramon Novarro , and in 1921 she starred with Novarro in the silent film Idol of a Small Town . Both actors received small dance roles, and this picture was the debut of Derelis in the movie.
In 1923 , Derelis was included in the WAMPAS Baby Stars list, which annually included promising young actresses, and this contributed to the development of her career. She began to get the main roles - the most famous film with her participation is the fantastic picture of 1924 " The Last Man on Earth " - however, Derelis was lucky for only a few years. One of the bosses of her film studio, Joseph Kennedy (father of President John F. Kennedy ), began to insist that Derelis change her name to Ann. The actress sued him, but lost the case, and her career began to decline, ending in 1929 .
Derelis Purdue died on September 30, 1989 in Los Angeles at the age of eighty-seven.
