Lighthouse Vienna is a residence project for homeless people and drug addicts in the Austrian capital. Lighthouse currently provides 62 clients in 5 communities. The main goal of this unusual project is to spread a sense of security and reliability for people who suffer from AIDS , Hepatitis , Mental Illness , as for people who can’t cope with a large number of different loads, Lighthouse is the only project that performs “accepted” work with drugs and also the only residence project in Austria for people with AIDS.

Origin of an organization
Lighthouse Vienna was founded in March 2000 in Vienna based on the idea of Bernhart Durts and was implemented by Frederick Baka, Christian Michelides and Herbert Rausch. The project was particularly supported by Ute Bok and Burgl Helbich Posacher.
Cooperation
Lighthouse Vienna cooperates with various organizations, including:
- outpatient facilities;
- Otto Wagner Hospital - Annenheim Department;
- Vienna General Hospital - Division 4 South (4-Süd);
- AIDS Mobile;
- Ganslwirt (Ganslwirt) - drug addiction counseling.
Services
The success of the Lighthouse Vienna project depends on both clients and project staff. Clients included in the project are not only independently responsible for paying their obligations, but also hand over the remaining money to the project staff. This money is issued to customers 3 times a week in a "small" amount.
The following types of assistance are provided in the project:
- in financial management;
- in job search and organization of free time.
Principles
Individual support takes place according to 12 principles of stabilization :
- daily psychosocial support;
- hygiene information;
- assistance and guidance in financial management;
- supply of documents, joint regulation of various matters (state, legal, etc.) including the processing of letters;
- money management and opening a bank account
- pension requests and organization of care fees;
- mobility provision;
- escort to the courts;
- family affairs and child support payments;
- pet care;
- medical care and medical supervision;
- psychotherapy.
The project team has 5 volunteers and 5 full-time employees, as well as trainees and government employees.
