Geographical position
Lagarde is located 65 km southeast of Metz . Neighboring communes: Ommere and Bourdonne in the north, Mezieres-le-Vic in the northeast, Bataville in the east, Musa and Remoncourt in the southeast, Ksus (Department of Murt and Moselle ) in the south, Vokur in the southwest, Ksur in the west .
The commune is located in the south of the Moselle department in the natural historical region of Solnua and is part of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .
History
- The village was founded by Bishop Jean d'Aprremont on land owned by Bishop Metz.
- The castle was erected here by Bishop Ademar de Monteuil, transferred to the lords de De Pont Beach. In 1638, the castle was destroyed by the Swedes.
- In the vicinity of the commune, heavy fighting took place during the First World War of 1914-1918. Lagarde several times passed from the French to the Germans and vice versa.
