Biography

Born December 23, 1953 in Khotov, Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district, Kiev region .

After graduating from high school in 1971 he entered the study, and in 1976 he graduated from the Department of Terrestrial Hydrology of the Geography Department of Taras Shevchenko Kiev State University with a degree in hydrology, specializing in hydrochemistry. After graduating from university, V.K. Khilchevsky's labor activity takes place in one institution - Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv at the Faculty of Geography:

1st period (1976-1989) - researcher in the problematic research laboratory of hydrochemistry (positions - from engineer to senior researcher); in the field season - chief of expeditions; Head of research at the University Boguslavsky hospital .

He defended his candidate dissertation “Changes in the chemical composition of river waters of the Upper Dnieper basin under the influence of anthropogenic factor” ( Dnieper to Kiev , including the territory of Russia , Belarus and Ukraine ) with a degree in hydrochemistry (in geographical sciences) in 1984 at the Hydrochemical Institute of the USSR State Hydrometeorological Committee in Rostov-on-Don (Russia).

In 1985 - studying at the International Higher Hydrological Courses of UNESCO . In 1988 - 1989 Held a scientific internship at the University of Bucharest ( Romania ).

The 2nd period (since 1989) - teaching at the Department of Hydrology and Hydroecology of the Geography Faculty of KNU named after Taras Shevchenko (1989-1997 - associate professor , 1997-2000 - professor ; since 2000 - head of the department .

Doctoral dissertation “Assessment of the influence of agrochemicals on the flow of chemicals and surface water quality (for example, the Dnieper basin)”, specialty 11.00.07 “land hydrology, water resources, hydrochemistry” defended in 1996 at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv .

Since 2000 p. - Chief Editor of the periodical scientific collection " Hydrology, Hydrochemistry and Hydroecology ", founded on his initiative.

During 2003-2018 - Chairman of the specialized academic council for the defense of doctoral and master's theses in hydrology and meteorology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv . His students defended 4 doctoral and 10 master's theses.

Scientific activity

Professor V.K. Khilchevsky - the head of the scientific hydrochemical school of KNU named after Taras Shevchenko , founded by professor V.I. Peleshenko .
He studied the formation of the chemical composition of surface slope runoff and other types of runoff at the experimental catchments of water-balance stations with various agricultural backgrounds and in various natural zones of Ukraine. He founded a new scientific direction - agrohydrochemistry (1989-1996 pp.) ^[1]
Performed jointly with L.N. Gorevym and V.I. Peleshenko fundamental generalization "Hydrochemistry of Ukraine" (1995).
Developed a modern classification of natural waters by mineralization (2003).
He developed the basics of hydrochemistry of regional basin systems, including transboundary ones, which is described in a series of monographs on rivers: Dnieper (1996, 2007); Dniester (2002 2013); Western Bug (2006); Ros (2009); Southern Bug (2009); Goryn (2011); Ingulets (2012); Sula , Psel , Vorskla (2014).
Together with V.V. Grebenem et al. Developed a methodology for hydrographic zoning of Ukraine for river basin districts in accordance with the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive, approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and included in the Water Code of Ukraine (2016).
As part of the authors of the series of works “Assessment, forecasting and optimization of the state of water ecosystems of Ukraine” he was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (2017).

VK. Khilchevsky has over 400 scientific works, including 40 books (over 20 monographs, study guides, 8 textbooks with the MES of Ukraine ), water quality maps in the “Hydrochemical Atlas of the USSR” ( 1990 ) and “National Atlas of Ukraine” ( 2007 ). 25 of his books in PDF format are presented in the scientific electronic library of the NBU.
