The genealogical roots of St. Filaret go to the hereditary parish of the Church of the Epiphany in the Potters. The oldest mention of the relatives of St. Philaret in Kolomna dates back to 1751. In the city documents, mention is made of Athanasius Filippov, priest of the Church of the Epiphany in Gonchary, great-grandfather of Metropolitan Filaret. The saint’s grandfather, Nikita Afanasevich, was born in his family. He also became a priest of the Epiphany Church.
The quadrangle of the church, crowned with a small five-domed church, was rebuilt in 1800 - 1804 . At the same time, a refectory with Vvedensky and Kharalampievsky chapels and a bell tower were built in the style of classicism .
