Creation History
After the scandalous βFinal Fourβ season 2010/11 was held in March 2011 (the Serb Partizan refused to participate in the final tournament, the Croatian Gospic did not go to the final game), the International Women's Basketball League (IWBL) stopped working by analogy to the male Adriatic League .
On June 10, 2011, a meeting was held among the leaders of the basketball clubs of Serbia , Slovenia , Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro , where it was decided to establish a new international basketball tournament "International Women's Regional Basketball League" ( Serb. MeΔunarodne Ε½enske Regionalne KoΕ‘arkaΕ‘ke Lige ) with financial support from national associations of member countries of the league and the approval of the Rules of the tournament. The first two seasons (2011/12 and 2012/13), the teams played outside their national championships, only at the end of the tournament did they enter their championships at various stages of the competition. Starting from the 2013/14 season, the tournament is held by analogy with European competitions, i.e. is an addition to the national championships.
The 2014/15 season was the most expanded in terms of geography, the Macedonian team, as well as the Italian Umana Reyer, joined the five permanent countries. It was she who became the winner of the League.
Since 2016, the International Women's Regional Basketball League changed its name to the Women's Adriatic Basketball Association.
