Reviews
Poet, prose writer and critic Anahit Grigoryan:
... the whole “Alpine window” and - wider - all the poet’s work turns out to be a single word, a picture, contrary to the rules of painting, executed with watercolors on a thick canvas. Examining a transparent, openwork pattern, one does not immediately notice behind it the tight interweaving of fibers, tear-resistant fabric - thus, observing a dream, one does not distinguish the dark relict stream that has been uprooted, originating somewhere in the preconscious past of mankind, continuously generating and immediately absorbing images, only partially comprehensible [4] .
Poet and critic Denis Larionov :
Through this shocking moment <showing the conventionality of the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead> we can also identify the place of the subject in Gorbunova’s poetry, located on the border of these worlds. Sometimes the subject appears to be on the other side — and then the poet turns to polymetric constructions (which can be dialogical with respect to the texts of Elena Schwartz), describing idyllic, dream-free toposs; sometimes according to this, and then we see the unfolding of a particular metaphor that is almost always associated with its nihilistic overturning (here it is more appropriate to recall the Gnostic line in modern poetry, from Alexander Mironov to Shish Bryansky) [5] .
Philosopher and philologist Alexander Markov:
Before us is the same effect that natural-philosophical poetry gave, from Arat's “Heavenly Phenomena” to symbolism, but only here such an account of what is happening is not based on mythology, but rather on the experience of “being” if this word united in Russian and a philosophical category, and existence, and life. It cannot be said that this is only an experience that has come true, because Gorbunova speaks no less of an unfulfilled event. But this is unfulfilled - not the “unfulfilled” of everyday experiences, not broken dreams, but the unfulfilled physics or chemistry: another phenomenon that has not yet received a formula or experimental verification [6] .
Poet Vasily Borodin :
In these verses, it is very difficult to draw a line between the subject and his experience; the subject has no clear boundaries separating it from the world, and those conditional boundaries that tend to keep it from completely dissolving are extremely mobile. It seems that the subject of these verses admits - in verses, often even at the physical level - some ultimate and even deforming experience, as it were, taking its blow ... Gorbunova is interested in the possibility of revelation and a miracle, and the boundaries of the subjectivity in which they are possible , or rather, the constant penetration of these boundaries [7] .
