In 2005, he was elected as a deputy of the Ivanovo Regional Duma of the 4th convocation as part of a list of candidates from the Ivanovo regional branch of United Russia . From 2005 to 2008 - Head of the Economics Committee, First Deputy Chairman of the Ivanovo Regional Duma and Head of the United Russia Faction.
From 2005 to 2008 - Secretary of the Political Council of the Ivanovo Regional Branch of the United Russia Party.
From 2008 to 2011 - Deputy Chairman of the Ivanovo Regional Duma, member of the United Russia faction.
Since March 29, 2011 - Member of the Federation Council, representative of the executive body of state power of the Ivanovo region. Member of the Committee of the Council of the Federation for Economic Policy, Entrepreneurship and Property, member of the Commission on Natural Monopolies, Commission on Housing Policy and Housing and Communal Services. In 2018, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, he was awarded the medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland”, II degree. [four]
