Biography
Karl Geisse studied at the Oldenburg Grammar School, where his father Johann Christian Augustus Geisz taught. From 1812 to 1815 he received the specialty of a private tutor, after which he worked in the family of Wilhelm von Humboldt as a mentor to his youngest son. Since 1816 he studied at the University of Berlin , attending lectures by Philip Beck , Franz Bopp and Georg Hegel .
Karl Heisey’s well-known publications include his father’s works on grammar and lexicography. The main work of Karl Geisey is the article "System of Linguistics" ( German: System der Sprachwissenschaft ), which was first published only after his death. In Russian, this work was published in the Voronezh journal of A. Khovansky “Philological notes” in 1864, translated and edited by I. M. Zheltov .
Geyze's son Paul Heyze became a famous writer and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1910.
