Distribution
Everywhere. One of the most widespread invasive species of ants [2] . Presumably, the native land of this species is Africa or Asia [3] . In addition to the tropics and subtropics, it is also represented in temperate countries (to Sweden and Estonia in the north of the range, and to New Zealand in the south) [1] . One of the reasons for successful distribution around the world is their ability to reproduce when closely related crosses without any negative effects of inbreeding [4] .
Description
Small ants 2-3 mm long. Antennae 12-segmented; the scapus (basal segment) is extremely long, twice the size of the head. The eyes are elliptical, strongly convex. Head, chest, abdomen and petiol from dark brown to blackish. The body is covered with grayish-white semi-spaced and spaced hairs.
Value
A dangerous invasive species, which is devoted to more than 270 publications in scientific periodicals [5] . In the USA it has the status of a pest (in homes and in agriculture, as it breeds insects from the Hemiptera group, sucking plant juices, such as aphids , worms and scale insects ) [1]
It became one of the reasons for the failure of the Biosphere-2 experiment, penetrating into its sealed rooms [6] [7] .
