Pochayna - the right tributary of the Volga, a small underground river flowing near the Kremlin walls in Nizhny Novgorod through a stone pipe, was removed to the collector in the middle of the 19th century.

Contrary to popular belief, Nizhny Novgorod was founded at the confluence of the Volga with Pochayna, and not with the Oka . Currently, only the name of Pochainskaya street and the eponymous ravine remind of this river.
General information
There was a passage to this river in the Taynitskaya tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin: in case the fortress was besieged, it was possible to go to the river and collect water. But to this day the river has not been preserved, therefore, there is no passage to it through the Tainitskaya Tower either (it was filled up for unknown reasons).
