Their son Rafael (Darin) is experiencing a psychological crisis for forty-two years. All his life he has been in the shadow of his father, he feels guilty for very rare meetings with his mother. The ex-wife (Fountain) complains that he does not devote enough time to his daughter Vicki (Nobile). In addition, he cannot figure out a relationship with his new lover (Verbeke). Criticism

  • The Washington Post : “Basically, with some charming retreats, this is Cinema. ... This is a film about a man’s best friends: his everyday problems. Well, you know: love, loyalty, success, work, hope for the future, regrets about the past ... ” [2] .
  • Chicago Tribune : “This is a fresh, funny, sarcastic, dynamic and insightful film about people and their problems” [3] .
  • Mountain Xpress ( Asheville, North Carolina) : “This Oscar-nominated film is a crafty, humorous look at a fairly typical situation: a midlife crisis. In fact, it can be compared to American Beauty , although such a comparison would have done Campanella a disservice. “The bride’s son” cannot be particularly deep, cannot offer something fundamentally new, but he is generously filled with spirituality, which is more humane and pleasant than that proposed by “American Beauty” [4] .
