Centerville is a city in Iowa, USA. Appanus County District Center. The population is 5,528 people ( 2010 ). At the beginning of the 20th century, Centerville became a rapidly growing city, thanks to coal mining companies that attracted many immigrants from Europe. Today, the city remains the home of many Americans of Swedish, Italian, Croatian and Albanian descent and other descendants of coal-mine immigrants.
