Tourism in Nigeria is one of the important components of the country's budget. The country has tropical forests , savannas , waterfalls , many objects of cultural and historical importance [1] . However, a number of regions in the country suffer from a shortage of electricity, poor road quality and dirty drinking water [2] .

Tourist objects

Tourist facilities in Nigeria include: festivals and cultural events (such as the Durbar Festival and others), national parks (such as Old Oyo , Yankari and Cross River ) and other geographical features (such as the Aso Rock in Abuja ).

Control of the tourism sector

The tourism industry is regulated by the Nigerian Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation [3] .

In an attempt to increase the popularity of the tourism sector of the country, since 2004 a beauty contest has been held - Miss Tourism of Nigeria . Winners 2004, 2005, and 2006: Shirley Agnotz [4] , Abigail Longuet and Gloria Zirigbé [5] .

Revenues

According to the report of the World Council for Business Travel and Tourism , revenues from tourism in Nigeria exceeded 10 billion US dollars in 2007 and account for about 6% of the gross domestic product of the country [6] .
