Very little is known about the life of the North. There is a mention of him in Quintilian , who called him versificator quam poëta melior ( rus. Better than the poet and poet ), Ovid, Seneca the Elder. From his work known grand poem "On the Sicilian War" ( lat. Bellum Siculum ), which tells about the struggle against Octavian Sextus Pompey during the civil war. From this work there is only a passage, which describes the death of Cicero . The description of the eruption of Vesuvius attributed to the North seems to be an episodic part of the same poem. About the other works nothing is known - these are “Roman affairs” and “ Etna ”. They were not completed, interrupted by the poet's sudden death.
