Member of petition companies. One of the founders of the Human Rights Committee in the USSR (1970-1972) . One of the founders of the Group of 73, a human rights organization that helped political prisoners and was persecuted for political reasons (since 1973).
One of the initiators of the creation and secretary of the Soviet section is Amnesty International (1973-1975, 1978-1979).
In 1974, the Chronika Press (New York) published the collection Andrei Tverdokhlebov - in Defense of Human Rights. It included some speeches by A. Tverdokhlebov in connection with the authorities' persecution of ideological motives, materials related to his activities in the Moscow Committee of Human Rights, documents on the activities of the Group of 73 and practical recommendations made by Tverdokhlebov “On custody of prisoners of conscience”.
In April 1974, in connection with the political trial of Gabriel Superfin , he signed the “Statement of the 44's” in his defense. Political prisoner (1975-1978 in exile). In 1980 he emigrated to the United States .
He died in the United States on December 3, 2011 . [one]
