Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences

The Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences ( RAAS , Russian Agricultural Academy ) - State Academy of Sciences , was established by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 84 of January 30, 1992, based on the Russian Agricultural Academy and All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences named after V.I. Lenin ( Agricultural Sciences ). In October 2013, within the framework of the reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences , the state academies of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences merged with the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] . At the same time, the RAAS became the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences , and its institutions became part of this Department.

Content

Branch offices

Currently, the Academy has 9 branch departments, whose task is to coordinate the work of research institutions of the Russian Agricultural Academy, universities and other organizations. The departments include more than 200 research institutions (NRU). The departments organize research in the relevant field of science; participate in the design and implementation of research programs; Coordinate and control the activities of institutions, enterprises, organizations that are part of them.

Department of Economics and Land Relations

The department conducts research in the field of economics and management of the agroindustrial complex , land relations, social development of the village, resource conservation and greening in the agroindustrial complex, management and information support of the agro-industrial production; develops the scientific foundations of agrarian policy.

It unites 20 full members (academicians) and 24 corresponding members of the Academy, 27 foreign members. The department consists of 8 scientific research institutes , including 4 All-Russian ( All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Economics , All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Economics, Labor and Management in Agriculture , All-Russian Institute of Agrarian Problems and Computer Science named after A. Nikonov , All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Economics and Standards ) and 4 zonal ( Volga Research Institute of Economics and agribusiness organization , Research Institute of economy and organization of AIC Central Black Earth region of the Russian Federation , North-West Research Institute of Economics and organization of agriculture , Far Eastern Research Institute of economy, the organization and planirova APK Ia ).

Agriculture Department

The department is developing a scientific basis for optimizing agrolandscapes and creating adaptive-landscape farming systems in order to ensure high productivity and sustainability of agriculture to unfavorable environmental factors, preservation of soil fertility. The structure of the Department includes the Department of General Agriculture, Agrochemistry and Soil Science and the sector of agroecology.

The department unites 24 academicians, 9 corresponding members and 19 foreign members of the academy.

The Department subordinates to 25 scientific institutions, including 7 All-Russian head institutions ( Agrophysical Research Institute , All-Russian Research Institute of Agrochemistry named after N. Pryanishnikov , All-Russian Research Institute of Agriculture and Soil Protection from Erosion , All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Microbiology , All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Radiology and Agroecology , and Ecology , and Research, Design and Technological Institute of Organic Fertilizers and Peat , Soil Institute named after V. V. Dokuchaev ), 4 zonal ( Don Zonal Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture , Agricultural Research Institute of the Central Black Earth Zone named after V. V. Dokuchaev , Nizhnevolzhsky Research Institute of Agriculture and the North Caucasus Research Institute of Mountain and Piedmont Agriculture ), as well as 14 republican and regional institutes.

Amelioration, Water and Forestry Department

The department is engaged in environmental reclamation monitoring, developing the technological foundations of integrated land reclamation and water use of the agroindustrial complex, conducts research in the field of developing sustainable reclaimed agricultural landscapes and environmental management for the main agricultural zones of Russia.

In the structure of the department there are 2 departments: land reclamation and water management; forestry and protective afforestation. The department includes 16 academicians, 9 corresponding members and 7 foreign academy members. There are 11 NN, including 4 All-Russian leading institutes ( All-Russian Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation named after AN Kostyakov , All-Russian Research Institute of Irrigated Agriculture , All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Use of Reclaimed Lands and All-Russian Research Institute of Agroforestry ), and 6 zonal ( Arkhangelsk Research Institute of Agriculture , Far Eastern Research Institute of Agriculture , Primorsky Research Institute of Agriculture , Kamchatka Research Institute of Agriculture , Volga Research Institute of Ecological Reclamation Technologies and the Caspian Research Institute of the Arid Land Meldelia ), as well as the Ingush Agricultural Experimental Station .

Crop Division

The department conducts research on crop production, breeding, seed production, genetics, biochemistry, physiology, plant biotechnology, including for the creation of highly productive varieties and hybrids resistant to biotic and abiotic stressors, develops zonal systems and technologies for the industrial cultivation of agricultural crops, as well as seed production.

The department consists of two departments and five sectors for various crops., 33 academicians and 27 corresponding members, 57 foreign members of the Academy. There are 56 scientific research institutes subordinate to the Department, incl. 43 breeding, 13 biotechnological and technological centers.

The department is engaged in the development of agrotechnologies for integrated plant protection, bio-safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective chemical and biological plant protection products, breeding varieties resistant to pests, creating regional systems for managing the processes of phytosanitary rehabilitation of agrocenoses.

The department has 9 academicians, 4 corresponding members and 8 foreign members of the Russian Agricultural Academy. The Department submits 4 research institutes, including 3 All-Russian ( All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Protection , All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology and All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Biological Plant Protection ) and 1 Zonal Institute ( Far Eastern Scientific Research Institute of Plant Protection ).

Animal husbandry department

The department conducts research in all leading sectors of animal husbandry, poultry farming, fur farming and rabbit breeding, fish farming, beekeeping, and also in the field of game management. The department includes the breeding, breeding, genetics and reproduction sectors of farm animals and the private zootechnics sector, technology for the production of animal products, 19 academics, 21 corresponding members and 10 foreign members. The Department includes 22 research institutes, the largest of which are the All-Russian Research Institute of Livestock , the All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Agricultural Animals , the All-Russian Research Institute of Physiology, Biochemistry and Nutrition of Agricultural Animals , the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Meat Cattle Breeding and the All-Russian Scientific Research and Technological Institute of Poultry , Stavropol Scientific Research Institute of Livestock and Fodder Production.

Veterinary Medicine Unit

The department carries out research to ensure the epizootic well-being of animal husbandry in the country, animal health, the prevention of diseases common to humans and animals, the development of environmentally safe diagnostic tools, preventive and therapeutic drugs, and the study of environmental problems in veterinary medicine.

The department consists of 12 academicians, 15 corresponding members and 12 foreign members, 17 research institutes, including 7 all-Russian ( All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Veterinary Virology and Microbiology , All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Veterinary Medicine named after R. Kovalenko , All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Helminthology named after K I. Scriabin , All-Russian Research Veterinary Institute of Pathology, Pharmacology and Therapy , All-Russian Research Institute of Veterinary Sanitation, Hygiene and Ecology , All-Russian Research Veterinary Institute of Poultry and All-Russian Research and Technological Institute of Biological Industry , All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Brucellosis and Animal Tuberculosis , All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Veterinary Entomology and Arachnology ) and 5 regional research institutes, as well as 5 research veterinary stations, uniting 808 scientific employees, including 158 doctors and 368 candidates of science.

Department of mechanization, electrification and automation

The department develops agroengineering and agroenergy systems, solves problems of efficiency and operation of machine and tractor units, issues of development strategy of the engineering and technical sphere (ITS) of AIC. The department participates in the formation of an order for agricultural engineering.

The Department has 21 academicians and 14 corresponding members, 10 foreign members, 11 specialized scientific research institutes, the largest of which are the All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization (VIM), the All-Russian Research Institute for Electrification of Agriculture (VIESH), the All-Russian Research Institute of Mechanization of Livestock (VNIIMZH), and All-Russian NITI repair and operation of the machine-tractor park (GOSNITI), as well as 4 specialized and 3 regional (North Caucasus, North-West and Far East).

Department of storage and processing of agricultural products

The department creates resource-saving storage technology and deep integrated processing of agricultural raw materials.

The department unites 11 academicians, 18 corresponding members and 7 foreign members of the Academy. The Center has 12 research institutes, the largest of which are the Primorsky Research Institute of Agriculture, the All-Russian Research Institute of Soybeans , the Far-Eastern Research Institute of Agriculture , the Far-Eastern Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine , the Far-Eastern Research Institute of Plant Protection , the Far-Eastern Research Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture . Central Scientific Agricultural Library

The Central Scientific Agricultural Library (CSAL) , the main library of the Russian Agricultural Academy, has the status of a scientific research institute, is also the federal industry center of the State Scientific and Technical Information System of the Russian Federation, the coordinating center of the agro-industrial complex library for information support of agricultural science and interstate exchange of agricultural literature within the CIS . FAO Depository Library. The Center for National Bibliography on Agriculture and Allied Branches of Knowledge regularly publishes current, retrospective, thematic and scientific auxiliary indexes, as well as sectoral abstract journals.

In accordance with article 18 of the Federal Law of 27.09.2013 N 253-Π€Π— β€œOn the Russian Academy of Sciences, the reorganization of state academies of sciences and the amendment of certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation” (entered into force on September 30, 2013 ), the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences joins Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) [3] .

In accordance with clauses 2 and 3 of this article, from the day of its entry into force, persons having the title of full member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences become academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences . Corresponding members of the RAAS have the status of corresponding members of the RAS in the manner prescribed by the RAS Charter. In accordance with clause 8 of the article, the President of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences shall exercise the powers of the vice-president of the RAS for three years from the date of the first general meeting of members of the reorganized RAS.
